Our story

25 years of doing the job right

What sets TWC apart is our commitment to doing the job right – safely, efficiently, and with pride in our workmanship. We’re hands-on, responsive, and unafraid of a challenge. Whether we’re building a retaining wall, laying critical drainage, or constructing safety barriers alongside a busy Auckland motorway, our goal is simple: to deliver quality work that lasts.

For over two decades, our growth has been steady and organic – built on a reputation for reliability, capability, and know-how. We’ve deliberately scaled in a way that keeps us agile, sustainable, and deeply connected to the people and communities we serve. We take pride in the tenure and calibre of our team – good people who do great work and stick around.

As we look ahead, TWC is doubling down on our core strengths in infrastructure. We’ve grown our capacity in stormwater drainage, with multiple crews delivering Healthy Waters solutions, gross pollutant traps, and network upgrades across the region. This is the kind of work we want to be known for – technically sound, community-serving, and built for long-term performance.

Troy Wheeler Contracting (TWC) was established in 2000 by Managing Director Troy Wheeler, starting from a humble yard on the outskirts of south Auckland. What began as a local operation with a practical, no-nonsense approach has grown into a respected civil infrastructure company with a strong presence across Auckland and now the Gisborne region.

In its early years, TWC built a reputation through consistent delivery of high-quality fencing and safety barriers. The company played a key role in developing Auckland’s roading infrastructure for the New Zealand Transport Agency and Auckland Transport, helping to shape the roads and public assets that supported the region’s growth during a time of rapid expansion.

Today, TWC employs over 50 skilled staff and continues to grow. We’ve expanded our capability across six key service areas – civil, drainage, safety barriers, public space commercial building works, transport cartage, and retaining walls – with a focus on delivering practical, cost-effective solutions that meet the real-world needs of our clients.
